Learn to paint in the dark, coached by visual artist Colin Waeghe.
Light and dark are crucial elements in painting. During this masterclass we will literally get to work on this. In this way we alternately paint in the dark and in the light. .
Bring an image you want to work on. This can be a photo or an object.
Then we put everything ready to start painting. We place our carrier (cloth, paper, wood,…), prepare our material, choose a place for our 'model', and determine our starting position.
Just a moment to take in the image, and then: light out.
What follows next will be a surprise, both for you and for me.
About Colin Waeghe
Colin Waeghe (° 1980) lives and works in Brussels and Leipzig. He studied at Sint Lucas College in Brussels (experimental studio), at PoPok (stage design) in the Singel in Antwerp and at the HISK in Ghent.
Colin Waeghe's work is a mix of autobiographical elements, snippets of the news and images from popular media. The painter portrays his story through different perspectives on realities that touched him. His works are portals of his experiences without an additional manual. The concept in his oeuvre is diverse.
Colin Waeghe often works with a small brush on a large canvas. Here we find his illustrative background. The result is a striking splash or smudge effect. He also looks at the world in this way: it is not a stagnant / fixed existence, but an ever-changing matter like vibrating molecules.
