Expo Filoxenia

Expo Filoxenia

July 1st – September 30th, 2020

Filoxenia is a retrospective exhibition showing 10 years of painting and visual art by Colin Waeghe.

Curator Willem Elias selected thirty works that depict the journey of Colin's work. It is a journey through time, around the world and across different styles.

The Filoxenia exhibition in Destelheide is an invitation to a journey through a new world, an art archipelago where everyone is welcome.

About Colin Waeghe

Colin Waeghe (°1980) lives and works in Brussels and Leipzig. He studied at Sint Lucas College in Brussels (experimental studio), at PoPok (stage design) in the Singel in Antwerp and at the HISK in Ghent.

Colin Waeghe's work is a mix of autobiographical elements, excepts from the news and images from popular media. The painter portrays his story through different perspectives on realities that touched him. His works are portals of his experiences without an added manual. The concept in his oeuvre is diverse.

Colin Waeghe often works with a small brush on a large canvas. Here we find his illustrative background. The result is a striking splash or stain effect. This is also how he looks at the world: it is not a stagnant / fixed existence, but an ever-changing matter like vibrating molecules.
