StudioStar

StudioStar is a European project of the network of Council of Europe’s Quality Labeled Youth Centres. In this project, young people from different countries go through a creative process and make their voices heard about human rights.

10 countries, 11 podcasts, 13 Youth Centres

Over the past months, young people from 10 European countries – Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Romania and Slovenia – have worked in 13 youth centers on a podcast about the right to freedom of expression. Each country’s youth center making their own episode, youngsters explore the concept of freedom of expression, how far that freedom should go, and what value this human right has in their home country.

As from the 10th of December the podcast series can be listened to via our website or Spotify.

Launch podcastseries StudioStar

December 10th, 2023

On Sunday December 10th, International Human Rights Day, the Council of Europe's Quality Labeled centres launched the StudioStar podcast series.

The launch of the series took place during ‘StudioStar Live’, an online live show. During this livestream, participants gathered in their youth centers to elaborate live on their ‘making-of process’ and personal experiences. Additionally, we reflected on the theme of freedom of expression and listened to short highlights of the various podcast episodes.

Did you miss the live show? You can rewatch StudioStar Live in the Facebook Event.

Podcast Belgium

For de Hoge Rielen, Destelheide and Hanenbos, the youth centres of ADJ, 7 young people between the ages of 16 and 23 sit behind the microphone and at the dining table. They made a creative podcast in the form of a table conversation during a dinner among friends. "We hope that this approach inspires people to continue the conversation at the dining table at home or with friends,” says Nora, one of the Belgian participants. Creating the podcast was a very educational experience for her.

“It is important that young people learn to share their opinions. Listening to others gives you the opportunity to broaden your perspective, learn and adjust your own opinion. As a society we also need to engage in more dialogue. But everything starts with knowledge. Then this podcast is a very manageable way to start.”
