All We Need is Love

Expo ‘All We Need is Love’

A plea for the right to love. That's the essence of the exhibition by Nigerian artist Nseabasi Akpan, which you can visit in our bar. Through the photo series "All We Need is Love," he criticizes the stereotypical portrayal and discrimination against the LGBTQI+ community in his country. Since 2014, Nigeria has had a law criminalizing same-sex marriages and other expressions of love between people of the same gender. By photographing his models in the nude, Akpan gives them a voice.

Nseabasi Akpan is a freelance photographer from Ibadan, Nigeria, who utilizes his artistic work as a means of expression to bring about social change. Through his photos, he brings visibility to those experiencing discrimination in his country, such as people with physical disabilities and the LGBTQI+ community. Additionally, he is the founder and artistic director of the Nseabasi Photography Concept, an organization that uses photography as a catalyst to empower children and young people on the margins of society. With his work, he travels around the world and has received multiple awards, including the One World Media Prize, the European Union/African Union Photography Prize, the BBC Focus on Africa Photo Essay Prize, and the Fearlessly Inspirational Photography Award.
